FoodInc

I really enjoyed the movie, Foodinc. It was very informative. It does make you think about what you eat and where it comes from. It seems like we just eat chemicals. Every food type is engineered, I think it is great that we have such technologies that would help protect our plants and vegatebles from all these pests but where does it stop?
I think this whole food coorporations it's all about business, and the goverment supports that, because that is their revenue.
I am all for organic food, but the prices is something that put me back in my place. Shouldn't the prices be cheaper? Shouldn't the government be helping or supporting that type of food production? I mean I try to make some good decisions but they are too expensive. Even that big company that does organic food, they are not in it because the have such a warm heart and they are helping the environment and the people, they are making huge bucks, thats the sole reason. So how different are they from those other companies?

Ipad

Well the long waited iPad is out now. So now the question is whether or not this item will revolutionize our technology world? I think I am kind of torn between yes it will be a huge thing and no it's just another toy that is a bit different from the iPhone, just in the larger format. It does everything that iPhone can do, so if I owned an iPhone I would not buy it. Though I will say that the lowest price of $499 is attractive and I think that is why a lot of people are buying them. So lets just get to the point, I think it will not be a huge thing. I think a lot of people are waiting to see what this new iPad will bring in terms of trouble and I am waiting for the Apple people to work out the kinks, if there are any. I do not think that we are in this world yet that this new "toy" will change the way we live in this world. I think we need another decade, then maybe....

GarageBand

In last class I liked playing around with garage band. It is a cool program. I love music and I love playing around with music and it was a lot of fun, changing original song to something I like. GarageBand allows you to do so. I am thinking of making a video and that program could be so useful for that. You can do a parody of any song that you want. I don't really fully understand GarageBand but spending couple of hours on it, it is user friendly, which is very cool. Another feature that I like about the GarageBand is the fact that you can learn to play a new instrument like a piano or a guitar. That is awesome, you don't have to pay for lessons, it's free.
I am interested in playing more with GarageBand. It is another software on the mac that makes me buy a macbook pro.

Presentation Night

After listening to some of the presentations, I started to see what Karl was saying about the technology in the classroom on how soon we might not use actual textbooks and stuff like that. It is kind of exciting what kind of technology there is outthere for teachers to use. It is like the whole world is at their finger tips. Thats exciting and scary at the same time. What will happen next? though I am excited to get my smart board! :)

I think that the way the projector is set up for the smart boad eliminates the problems of being in the way of the projector.

Ripping CDs

I was fimiliar with the concept of ripping cds to computer but I did not know much about the bit rates. It is neat. Now I will rip my cds with the higher bit rate so I can have a better quality music. Good stuff.

Copyright Stuff

I think some of the stuff that we cannot do in school is just rediculous. I mean everyone wants us, teachers, to be "mericle workers" to educate students but when it comes to using certain materials we have to get licencing and pay money just to use it as educational material. It is like the phrase that Michael Buffer says, "Lets get ready to rumble" It is his trademark so if I use it somewhere I have to pay. Weird stuff. I mean I don't think we should just plagirize but we can cite it especialy if it is used to educate students. I am not talking about making money for my self.
I think i would like to know more about that, though not sure if I'll be showing any movies in my math classes but.....

THE CRASH COURSE

The video, crash course, was very interesting. Was it a fun video to watch? Probably not, since it's basically saying that we are "in a pickle." It is very depressing information, though I think it is something that every American needs to hear because we think that there are unlimited amounts of resources and we are the best and we can have anything we want. This course gives a new way to look at things. I really like that part about inflation. I never knew it is something that the government has control over. But it turns out that the government has control a lot of things such as inflation, which means that they plan everything, which means that its very hard to trust such government....
I will say that I wish I watched this video before I made an offer on the house....
Somewhat scary stuff.
